Leaders of seven major Korean American organizations in New Jersey share community needs and priorities for the future.

TENAFLY, N.J. — September 24, 2026, Bergen County Executive James Tedesco visited the KCS New Jersey headquarters in Tenafly to meet with leaders of local Korean American organizations for a roundtable discussion.

The meeting brought together the heads of seven leading Korean American organizations in New Jersey: KCS, AWCA, BCC, BNBMC, Family Touch, the South Pole Foundation and Sangrokhoe. Participants conveyed directly to the county the challenges Korean American residents face and the support they most need, and held a wide-ranging discussion on future collaboration.

Bergen County has one of the highest concentrations of Korean American residents in the United States, and community members have long emphasized the importance of having their voices reflected in county government. This visit was especially meaningful because the county's top executive sat with Korean American organizations in person to hear their concerns firsthand.

Drawing on their work in areas such as social services, family support and senior care, the organization leaders shared the needs they have observed among local residents and expressed hope for an ongoing channel of communication with the county.

"We hope this meeting will ensure that the voices of our community and Korean American residents are heard by the county government, and that it will lead to positive change and meaningful collaboration," said MyoungMi Kim, CEO of KCS.

The participating organizations plan to use the meeting as a foundation to strengthen their partnership with Bergen County and continue joint efforts to improve the quality of life for Korean American residents.
