Sponsored by the Asian American Federation (AAF), KCS is hosting its 2nd Annual Korean Art Competition, open to 1st to 12th-grade students across New York State. This competition seeks to provide a unique opportunity for Korean students to express their artistic talents.

This year’s theme is "A Cherished Memory." Your artwork should reflect this theme by capturing its meaning creatively and thoughtfully.

Competition Process

Online applications must be completed by Sunday, October 18, at 11:59 PM EST.
Physical artwork submissions must be received either in person or via mail by Friday, October 23rd, 5:00 PM EST.

Selected guest jurors will hold a blind test when selecting awardees based on several criteria.

This event will serve as a celebration of creativity, culture, and community, recognizing the artistic talents of Korean youth. Winners will be announced during the event, and snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Submission Evaluation
Selected guest jurors will hold a blind test when selecting awardees based on several criteria, including:

Relevance to Theme: How does the artwork reflect the theme?

Creativity and Originality: Does the artwork showcase unique ideas?

Artistic Skill: Does the artwork demonstrate control of the medium?
-
Impact & Expression: How does the artwork have an emotional impact?

Overall Presentation: Does the submission demonstrate care and engagement?
Please note that grading criteria are subject to change.
Submission Requirements
1. Each participant is allowed to submit only one (1) artwork for the competition. Multiple submissions will not be accepted.
2. Artwork cannot be larger than 18 by 24 inches (45.72 by 60.96 cm) or smaller than 11 by 8.5 inches (27.94 by 21.59 cm). Artwork must be submitted unframed and unmounted. Framed or mounted pieces will not be accepted.
3. We only accept 2D artwork, which includes traditional and digital artwork. 3D artwork, such as sculptures, will not be accepted.
4. The submission must be an original piece created specifically for this competition and cannot be reused or previously submitted work from another contest or project.
5. The use of Al-generated content, fan art, traced or plagiarized work is strictly prohibited.
6. The artwork must reflect the theme of this year's competition: "A Cherished Memory."

KCS Korean Art Showcase & Ceremony
Awardees will be announced on Saturday, November 21st, 2026, during the KCS Korean Art Showcase & Ceremony. Doors will open at 11:00 AM, and the ceremony will begin at 12:00 PM. Please note that the date and time are subject to change.
The KCS Korean Art Showcase & Ceremony will be held at the KCS HQ office in Bayside, located at 203-05 32nd Ave, Bayside, NY 11361.
