Korean immigrant population has grown in the New York metropolitan area. As a result, health-related needs have become an increasing concern for the community.
According to the research in 2001, 34 % of Korean Americans among Asians did not have health insurances. In addition, there are various limitations to access medical services such as legal status, income level, language/cultural barriers, and lack of information.
To improve the medical accessibility and availability, KCS has been providing various medical services. KCS, especially, initiated the Community Health Clinic Project in 2006 fall supported by Shinhan Bank America, and opened the clinic on Oct. 27th 2006 as the first official free health community clinic in Korean community.
KCS Community Health Clinic consists of internal medicine, oriental medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and rehabilitation/pain management. Also, people can be screened for Hepatitis B Virus and if needed, we provide vaccination and treatment services, NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy), and information on public health insurance.
KCS Community Health Clinic opens every Friday from 6 pm to 9 pm at Flushing (35-56 159th St. Flushing, NY 11358).
