KCS Project homecoming provides mental health and after school services to recently immigrated Korean Americans and their families in northern New Jersey. The mental health initiative is targeted to those who seek mental health related group and individual counseling and look to build healthier families and stronger family ties but do not have access to traditional governments services.
KCS Project Homecoming's after school initiative targets recently immigrated, low income Korean American youth in the Palisades Park/Ridgefield/Fort Lee area. KCS has identified a need for this population through counseling with parents, conversations with community members at community forums, and other outreach activities. Sutdents from low-income families are severely disadvantaged in academic achievement relative to their peers from middle class families due to economic disadvantage of their environment, and are far more likely to underachieve with respect to their potential. An after school program run by KCS Project Homeciming was able to address this issue by providing a free after school program to students of low-income families.
