KCS' Education Development institute (EDI) provided workforce development and job counseling services to unemployed and underemplyed adults. Korean Americans, despite of their high educational background (64% of them are college graduate), generally tend to enter and remain in the secondary labor market due to their limited English proficiency and lack of skills. EDI's mission is to provide the necessary training to allow people to rise above these limitations and obtain better jobs. This in turn helps the entire community - Flushing and all of New York City- by putting people back to work and raising the overall skill level of the workforce.

Starting January 2006, the EDI has been home to NYCWorks, a new workforce development program funded by the New York City Council and administered by the United Way of New York City. KCS and its five subcontract organizations (Milal Mission, Rainbow Center, South Asian Council for Social Services, Taiwan Center and Young Korean American Service and Education Center) are providing job training to unemployed and underemployed Asian Americans in New York City. KCS and its subcontract agencies were specifically selected by New York City to serve the Asian American community for this innovative program.

Trainees recieve vocational specific "hard skills" training in one of seven areas: Medical Assistant, Office Assistant, Alteration and Tailoring, Accounting, Tax Preparation, Home Health Aide, and Housekeeping. In addition, as part of a holistic job training regimen, clients also recieve case management, job counseling, resume assistance, business, English & computer classes, and financial literacy training and government benefits counseling.

During FY'07, KCS and its subcontractor organizations served a total of 851 individuals and enrolled 85 individuals into hard skillls training programs. KCS enrolled 42 participants into its programs (Medical Assistant, Office Assistant, and Home Health Aide).
