KCS Corona Senior Center started its services since 1986 to meet the rapidly growing needs of elderly population in Korean immigrant community. Under the contract with NYC Department for the Aging, KCS Corona Senior Center provides various services: Congregate Lunch, Education/Recreation, Case Assistance/Information/Referral, Volunteer program and others.

Hot Congregate lunch: Korean ethnic food is served daily on weekdays. The menu plan is prepared with well-balanced nutrition under the supervision of NYC DFTA. A daily average of 149 Korean-American and some other ethnic elderly attend the meal program (Total 37,499 units for FY' 07). In addition, we serve 150 pieces of congregate week-end lunch at 50 cents each, which contains well-balanced nutrients as protein, rice/pasta, vegetables/fruits, and milk, etc. once a week. They are shared with 70 counts to the seniors at Flushing Senior Center and 80 to Corona Senior Center. (Total 7,800 units for FY' 07).

Education/Recreation: The center opens ESL classes per level, English for Citizenship, Reading, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Stay-Well Exercise, Bingo, Korean Chess, Board Go, Calligraphy, and Computer Class. Additional activities include picnic/trips for entertainment and education and seminars and prescreening services on health, safety, benefit entitlements, and other important topics (Total 1,136 units for FY' 07).

Case Assistance/Information/Referral: The center not only provides seniors with help with applying of various social services like social security, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Public Housing, EPIC, SCRIE, and others, but also takes them to relevant offices, if needed, helps translate for interviews (Total 5,006 units for FY' 07).
