Tobacco Cessation Program

As part of a citywide initiative to reduce tobacco use in immigrant communities in NYC, KCS provides tobacco cessation services to Korean smokers in NYC. New Yorkers with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) have been unable to access critical tobacco cessation resources and services due to language and cultural barriers. Despite Koreans having one of the highest smoking rates in NYC, cessation resources are not available in Korean. In order to address this issue, KCS provides free tobacco cessation services in a linguistically and culturally-sensitive manner, a 2-week supply of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) in the form of patches, as well as referrals to the Asian Smokers’ Quitline, the only quitline that provides counselling in Asian languages, including Korean.
