ESOL Citizenship Instructor

REPORTS TO: Interim Director, Education Department

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: KCS’ mission is to be a bridge for Korean immigrants and the wider Asian community to fully integrate into society and overcome any economic, health and social barriers so that they become independent and thriving members of the community. We accomplish this mission by providing culturally competent programs in the areas of Aging, Education, Immigration, Workforce Development, Public Health, and Mental Health.

ABOUT THE POSITION: We are currently seeking a driven and dynamic professional to join our team as an Instructor, ready to teach citizenship classes and educate students so that they can be able members of society.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 Provide quality instruction by creating a safe, positive learning environment with the goal to prepare adult students for the naturalization process and test
 Develop effective lesson plans with an understanding of students’ abilities and goals, with an emphasis on the rights and responsibilities of U.S. Citizenship
 Produce individual student progress reports to assess student learning
 Attend departmental meetings at least once a week to ensure there is clear communication and outcomes are evaluated
 Other duties as assigned by the Interim Director, Education Department or the Education & Immigration Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, or a related field
 Has a TESOL certification
 At least 1 year of experience teaching ESOL and/or citizenship to adults
 Ability to speak in Korean preferred but not required
 Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; adept at working with diverse individuals
